Finding a record by Mel Tormé in a used record store is like finding a four leaf clover in a field of lilies. The reason being that anyone who buys something by Tormé has no easy time giving it away. Tormé's music is so sensational that you would have to pry his record from my hands to even get a listen. So finding Tormé in used, but swell condition, was certainly the highlight of my day! The record I purchased, "Mel Tormé Swings Schubert Alley", assuredly does not disappoint. His soft melodic voice spreads as smoothly as butter over his orchestral accompaniment, earning his record a 5 star rating in its 1960 release date. If you have a moment to spare, give his songs "Once in Love with Amy" and "Too Close for Comfort" a listen. You'll have discovered a four leaf clover!
