Loose Eyes

There once was a boy
Who always lost his eyes
In all sorts of places
You couldn’t contrive

His eyeballs just rolled
Out of his head
And into a bowl
Of butter and bread!

He went to the doctor
He went to the nurse
But no one could cure
His loose eyeball curse

So he got out some wire
And rolled it up nice
There behind each lid
He put a device

When his eyes would come out
And roll round the place
The wires would hang
Down from his face

He’d pop them back in
And smile quite meekly
For now he had made
The first eyeball slinky

And that’s why you see
Kids running around
With popping eye glasses
That spring to the ground

  1. This reminds me all to much of a dire predicament mentioned by MR. Poe...... Still gives me goosebumps to this day.
